Regulatory Proceedings

Regulatory proceedings are inquiries, show-cause notices and enforcement action by regulators and statutory bodies.

What this covers

  1. 01Show-cause notices
  2. 02Inquiries and investigations by regulators
  3. 03Penalty and enforcement proceedings
  4. 04Appeals to appellate tribunals
  5. 05Compliance with regulatory directions

How it generally works

Many sectors have their own regulators with powers to inspect, investigate and impose penalties under their governing statutes.

Proceedings usually begin with a show-cause notice, followed by a reply and, often, a personal hearing before an order is passed.

Orders can generally be appealed to a specified appellate authority or tribunal.
