Hindi newspapers reported in early December 2016 that Advocate Pravesh Dabas had filed a police complaint at the Prashant Vihar police station, Delhi, about the reality show Bigg Boss 10. The complaint was against a contestant on the show, a self-styled religious figure known as Swami Om, and also named the show's host, the channel that broadcast it and its production house.
According to the reports, the complaint alleged that the content hurt religious sentiments and insulted the Hindu religion. It alleged that the contestant had been presented as a religious figure while behaving on the show in ways the complaint said were inconsistent with that description. Police officials were quoted as saying that the complaint had been received.
The reports noted that the contestant had been involved in several earlier controversies, and that on the same weekend he had appeared before a Saket court in an unrelated case.
About this item
This was a complaint made by the advocate himself, not a case in which he represented a client. A complaint sets out allegations only; the reports do not record what action, if any, followed.
